URL gives it away, but:

Hilarious or oh my how terrible?

Anyway, I'm quite amazed by the way the thing seems to have just kept
going.

I'm surprised something like that hasn't happened before.

"It wasn't clear that it was a cannonball landing on the roof".

Really, no shit!

Me too , it seems to have been going incredibly fast to get such
distance and to do so much damage. I was hoping the video would show the
actual moment it went wrong.

It does show how effective a solid shot can be , they were the staple of
artillery for hundreds of years, imagine hundreds of them fired at a town.

OT - on the same news site there is a story of a woman dying in lift
accident reminiscent of horror films

http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2011/12/07/woman-dies-in-elevator-accident-at-csu-long-beach/

I thought that only happened on Final Destination films etc.

The Reg has it now :

Seems that they will show it on TV, but clearly there wont be some great
footage of it all going wrong

Yeah, I am amazed at how effective a cannon ball can be. Never really
thought much about it, it just puts holes in stuff, right? But with all
that energy I guess they can ping about like a bullet can. So, where one
would think a cannon ball hitting a ship would just hole it, it seems
that they could cause a lot more damage.

OK, the experiment didn't go as intended, but it certainly proved a lot
about old school weapons.

Well, its that old thing about real life being more extraordinary than
writer dare write.

They're going to show the episode, but they're not going to show
anything related to the incident (according to the presenters on
Twitter, anyway).

Personally, I'll be quite happy if it means they start doing less of the
(usually rather boring other than for gun-happy Americans) gun/explosion
'myths', and get back to focusing on the more interesting urban legends.
